As this year marks the celebration of the 50 Years of Women at Providence College, we invite you to join us for a special program that not only celebrates the impact that women have had on the PC community but empowers the current generation of women to leave their own mark on history.

Attendees will hear from an array of women alumni who will speak to their stories of how they invoke change in the world, the workforce, and their own personal lives. Following the half-day of events, all guests will be invited to attend a networking reception with fellow female Friars. A Mass will also be offered at the conclusion of the program.

Opening Lunch and Keynote Address

Keynote speaker, Natalie Silverstein ’91 (see bio below), is the acclaimed author of Simple Acts: The Busy Family’s Guide to Giving Back.

Alumni Panel: Women of the Next

1:45 – 2:45 p.m.

A discussion with three of PC’s movers and shakers, Danielle Lockhart ’14, Christie Miranne ’04, and Kilah Walters-Clinton ’00, ’04G (see bios below) will be moderated by Executive Vice President Ann Manchester-Molak ’75 and a student leader.

“Table Talks”

3 – 3:30 p.m.

Engage in conversation with fellow female students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Discussions will be led by several volunteers and will be inspired by the keynote address and panel.

Reception and Networking

3:30 – 4:30 p.m.

The program will conclude with a networking reception for all attendees.

Natalie Silverstein MPH ’91

Natalie Silverstein MPH ’91

Natalie Silverstein is a writer, speaker, consultant, and advocate for family and youth service. Her first book, Simple Acts: The Busy Family’s Guide to Giving Back, was published by Gryphon House in 2019 and was selected one of the Top Ten Books for Parents Who Want to Raise Kind Kids by the HuffPost. Her second book, Simple Acts: The Busy Teen’s Guide to Making a Difference will be published by Free Spirit Press in July 2022.

In September 2013, Natalie launched the first local affiliate of Doing Good Together, a Minneapolis-based nonprofit with the mission of helping parents raise kids who care and contribute. As the New York-area coordinator, she curates a free monthly e-mail listing of family-friendly service opportunities that is distributed to thousands of subscribers. She is a frequent speaker and contributor on the topics of service, kindness and philanthropy, and has appeared on many popular podcasts and on the third hour of TODAY on NBC. Her personal essays have appeared on Medium, Grown and Flown, Motherwell, Red Tricycle, and MommyPoppins.

Along with her husband, she is the co-founder of The Silverstein Foundation for Parkinson’s with GBA, a nonprofit committed to finding a cure for Parkinson’s Disease in GBA mutation carriers. She serves as executive director and a member of the Board of Trustees. As a philanthropist, Natalie is a founding member of Impact100 NYC, and previously participated in the WellMet women’s giving circle. She served on the Board of Trustees of the Rodeph Sholom School for seven years and proudly chaired the Annual Fund and Development Committee. She and her family are active community volunteers in New York City where they live. Natalie graduated magna cum laude with a degree in health policy and administration from Providence College (Class of 1991) and earned master’s degree in public health from the Yale University School of Public Health.

Danielle Lockhart ’14

Danielle Lockhart ’14

As the director of multicultural marketing and publicity at Universal Pictures, Danielle Lockhart develops high impact campaigns that organically reach African American, Asian American and Hispanic audiences. From blockbuster films like Jurassic World and Fast & Furious to cult classics like Jordan Peele’s Get Out and Us to animated favorites like Minions and Sing, Danielle is responsible for crafting cultural moments and delivering relevant campaigns to niche audiences on every Universal Pictures title.

Danielle began her career in the entertainment industry as an intern for a non-profit organization called the Emma Bowen Foundation which pairs minorities interested in media with a summer internship and scholarship via a corporate sponsor. Danielle’s sponsor was Comcast where she completed three consecutive summer rotations in the Technical Operations, Marketing & PR and Advertising departments. After a brief stint in the Multicultural Marketing department at HBO, Danielle joined NBC full time in 2014 — first, as an NBCUniversal East Coast page where she acted as a brand ambassador to NBC and as the marketing and promotions assistant for the USA Network; next, as an administrative assistant in the NY publicity department at Universal Pictures where she worked her way up in media relations to current position.

Danielle graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Marketing from Providence College. She was founder and editor-in-chief of PC Lifestyle & Fashion, a member of the Liberal Arts Honors Program and The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and she served as a Certified Writing Tutor in the Office of Academic Services.

Christie Miranne ’04

Christie Miranne ’04

Christie is an industry leading brand builder, direct sales and marketing expert, and strategic business development leader. As the former executive vice president of product development and strategy for a division of HSN, The Home Shopping Network, she lead a cross-functional team that developed, designed, sourced, planned, and marketed record-shattering products across all categories and amounted to over $2 billion in retail sales throughout her tenure. Over her career, Christie has created, curated, designed, sourced, and marketed products that are rooted in innovation and provide consumers a value-driven solution to their everyday needs.

Her expertise spans multiple brands in multiple categories that she built from the ground up. These include soft home, hard home, apparel, accessories, culinary, fitness, publishing, and entertainment, with celebrity partners including Joy Mangano, Iman, Serena Williams, Keith Urban, Randy Jackson, Chef Ming Tsai and Chef Todd English. Christie began her career in Public Relations with a specialty focus on licensing and endorsements collaborating with Elizabeth Arden, Unilever, Givaudan, Estée Lauder, and Coty, as well as celebrity clients Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Roselyn Sánchez among others. As the daughter and protégé to iconic inventor and entrepreneur ,Joy Mangano, Christie’s affinity and understanding of product development started at an early age, growing up around the stimulating ideas and robust work ethic of her mother, who founded her first company and launched her first productin 1990.

In 2019, Christie embarked on her latest venture together with her mother, brother, and husband, and co-founded the Joy Company, an omni-channel enterprise that is the umbrella to the various arms of their new multi-million-dollar organization. They have since debuted their latest brand, CleanBoss by Joy, launched a network TV series, America’s Big Deal, the first live shoppable competition series in partnership with NBCU to bring back small businesses across the country, and have a Broadway musical in the works set to debut in late 2022 that chronicles the life story of Joy and the family. Christie is a loving mother of three and working in tandem with family allows her to better bring brands and products to life out of deep passion and love for what they all do. Christie is dedicated to her family, her career, and giving back to the future generation of entrepreneurs and dreamers everywhere.

Kilah Walters-Clinton ’01, ’04G

Kilah Walters-Clinton, M.Ed

Kilah Walters-Clinton, M.Ed is a clinical therapist who currently serves as the director of race, equity, and community engagement at The Executive Office of Health & Human Services. Previously, Kilah has served as a probation and parole officer; a diversity, equity, and inclusion advisor, and emergency service clinician.

Beyond her professional work, Kilah leads The Providence Shelter for Colored Children Foundation which provides grants to local nonprofits that focuses attention on children of color in Rhode Island’s urban core. Kilah enjoys being an innovative think partner. She presently serves on the Economic Progress Institute Board, Lincoln School for Girls Alumni Board, The R.I. Black Business Association’s Emerging Leadership Steering Committee, SHRM Board as well as Providence College’s DEI & Community Advisory committees. Recently Kilah was awarded The Christina Bannister Award from RI Monthly. She has been named as a Rhode Island Foundation Equity, Leadership Initiative Fellow and is a part of the Institute for Nonprofit Practice Core Certificate Program.

Kilah holds a B.A. in Social Science and an M.S. in Counseling Education both from Providence College. In her career, her focus on youth starts at home. She is a devoted wife and mother of three inquisitive young children who enrich her life every day.
